Looking for some time to get to know your inner artist? Here at Laggan, we’ve carefully curated a day of art just for you. Join us for ‘The Artist In Me’ at GG’s Yard on Wednesday May 1st, 2024.

This event features an inspiring line-up with three artistic workshops for guests to get creative with. The day has been designed to allow participants to unleash their inner artist. Workshops will be taught from 3 professional creatives; Hazel Campbell Landscape Artist, Jo Shennan Mixed Media Artist and Maybelle Thompson Florist.

The Artist in Me is open to all levels and ability. The day includes all the materials you will need for each creative workshop. Please bring your own apron and secateurs if you have some at home.

The day will start with coffee and a catch up followed by the first session of workshops. Next, guests will be treated to a delicious lunch prepared by the GG’s Yard kitchen team. The next two workshop sessions will take place in the afternoon with a coffee break in between. Finally, the day will finish with guests having taken part in all three workshops. The new skills learned and the art you created during the day will be yours to take home.

meet THE ARTISTS

PAINTING A LANDSCAPE – HAZEL CAMPBELL

Hazel has spent the majority of her adult years residing and working in Galloway, where she has cultivated her distinctive and dynamic painting style. Her creative approach is characterised by a fearless use of oil and gouache, with the picturesque Galloway landscape serving as her primary muse for crafting stunning landscapes.

During the workshop you will have the opportunity to learn and try some of Hazels techniques for yourself and create your own piece of artwork to take home with you.

MIXED MEDIA ART – JO SHENNAN

Within this workshop, you will be shown a short demonstration on how to print onto paper using a geli plate. The process is explorative, exciting and offers instant results.

You will be given a selection of textures to work with including natural forms, fabrics, lace and a selection of threads which will offer beautiful marks made when printed on paper. We will be using acrylic paint on paper, combining the original print with bold outlines and the negative left on the plate which picks up every detail.

Acrylics are quick drying and by mounting your work, you will have a completed work by the end of the day.

FLORIST- MAYBELLE

Maybelle, of Belles & Thistles, is our in-house florist here at Laggan and we are so excited to share her creativity with you!

This workshop is the perfect way to add beautiful blooms to your day.

All foliage and materials are included on the day and you’ll have your own masterpiece to take home afterwards.

Please bring your own apron and secateurs if you have some at home!

Artist In Me ticket £149 (includes a place in all the workshops plus all materials needed for the day, tea and coffee and a GG’s Yard lunch)

We’re really looking forward to welcoming you to this wonderful event and hope it sparks and inspires you on a new creative path.

Please note tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable
