GG's Yard

Laggan Real Wedding – Jenna and Fraser

Jenna and Fraser had their wedding day earlier this year at GG’s Yard. The day featured netural tones and the most adorable flower girl and page boy who almost stole the show!

TELL US ABOUT YOURSELVES, HOW DID YOU MEET AND WHAT DID YOU WANT AS YOUR WEDDING DAY?

Fraser and I are both from Glasgow but have lived in Edinburgh for 6 years. We met at school and have been together for 14 years. Fraser proposed on Sandwood Bay up in Scotland on the 26th June 2021, it was absolutely stunning and we had the beach to ourselves!

Why did you choose GG’s Yard?

I found GG’s Yard online and fell in love with it! From the neutral tones and beautiful decor I booked our first viewing! We looked at a range of other venues – some similar and some completely different and nothing compared! When we saw GG’s Yard we just knew it was the one for us!

What was the wedding colour scheme or did you have a theme?

We didn’t have a colour scheme as such – we took a lot of the neutral tones from around the venue and had a lot of champagne and neutral tones and gip. The bridesmaids were in emerald green, but we never wanted this to become the wedding colour. It really worked with the champagne and neutral tones.

Can you give us any details about the dress and suit?

My dress was from Anne Priscilla in Glasgow and the designer was Alan Hannah. I went to quite a few stores and my dress ended up being the complete opposite of what I thought I would go for! Initially I thought a fitted dress with a low back but instead went for off the shoulder, ball gown style and absolutely loved it! I didn’t want to take it off!

Fraser wore his own kilt from MacGregor McDuff, it is the Hunting Stewart of Appon Tartan. We bought silver ties from Reiss which Fraser, his best men, ushers and our two dads all wore as well.

WHAT WEDDING FLOWERS DID YOU have?

We went with Maybelle at Belles and Thistle and couldn’t recommend her enough! I sent through a few inspiration images I had found online and liked a few aspects of each bouquet. I let Maybelle run with what she thought would work best and the flowers were absolutely stunning! Using mostly neutral tones with some champagne and peachy tones and greenery – they were wonderful!

What food choice did you go for and why?

We chose our food choices after we did the tasting as we wanted food we knew all our guests would love and we had enjoyed trying. We couldn’t fault the food and it was a difficult decision but with help from our parents we narrowed it down and were extremely happy with the choices and quality of food on the day!

  • Prawn Cocktail
  • Butternut squash soup
  • Sea bass
  • Chicken with haggis bonbon and whiskey sauce
  • Lemon posset
  • Sticky ginger and cinnamon sponge

Are there any suppliers you used that you’d like to get a mention?

Do you have any special moments or highlights?

The whole day was perfect from start to finish! Frasers dad, Robert has a Land Rover which he brought down for us to get to the beach for photos! With the weather in the morning we weren’t sure if we would manage but before the meal we made a break for it!

We climbed into the back of the Land Rover, umbrellas up and Frasers brothers Blair and Kerr drove us down to the beach. It was so special to have that time driving to the beach just the two of us catching up after the ceremony!

Is there any other information you’d like us to include?

We just want to say a huge thank you to Kerry, Vicky, Jackie and everyone at GG’s Yard, Gather and The Murray Arms. We had the most fantastic day and it ran so smoothly down to everyone’s hard work!

What advice would you give to other Brides and Grooms going through planning a wedding?

Book GG’s Yard for your wedding venue – you won’t regret it!!

I’d say, take your time, enjoy the engagement – we decided not to start planning for the first three months to enjoy our engagement! When we did start planning we took it slowly, tried to enjoy every minute of the process and don’t sweat the small stuff! You only do it once (hopefully!) so enjoy the planning, run up and the day as much as possible!
