Launch of Laggan Layers: A Sustainable Innovation for world egg Day!

Here at Laggan, we’re always looking for creative ways to blend innovation with sustainability. And what better occasion to showcase our latest endeavour than on #WorldEggDay?

Allow us to introduce you to our latest addition: The Laggan Layers!

Last summer, inspired by the ethos of repurposing and sustainability, the McConchie boys; Freddie, Alfie and Robbie embarked on a remarkable idea. They creatively utilised materials from our old table-tennis shed to craft a unique solution: a transportable chicken coop!

What sets this coop apart is not just its functionality in providing a safe haven for our feathered friends but also the ability to fertilise and enrich the land as it travels around our beautiful landscape.

It’s a testament to the power of creativity and resourcefulness, and we couldn’t be prouder of the initiative taken by the McConchie boys.

This concept not only reduces waste but also promotes sustainable farming practices. As the coop journeys through Laggan on wheels, it leaves a positive impact on the environment, enriching the soil wherever it goes

Keep your eyes peeled as the coop makes its way around, leaving a trail of nourishment!

Home to 100 chickens, the mobile coop can be easily moved around our grounds by quad bike by the boys, allowing our lovely ladies to fertilise different areas as they roam. This approach not only ensures the well-being of our birds but also contributes to the overall sustainability of our operations.

We’re excited to announce that the fruits of our feathered friends labour are available for you to enjoy at our Gather Farm Kitchen. Fresh, delicious eggs straight from our Laggan Layers coop will add a special touch to your plate, offering happiness with every bite!

savour the goodness of Laggan Layers wherever you go

For those who wish to bring a taste of Laggan home with them, our eggs will also be available for purchase from Gather.

Join us in celebrating #WorldEggDay and the joy of farm-fresh goodness!
