Scottish Staycation

Did you know that Scotland is the second top holiday ‘staycation’ destination in the UK?

We can understand why. Beautiful views, stunning countryside, wildlife, amazing food, nature at its finest…the list goes on!

The Scottish Highlands are one of the top visited places in Scotland and it’s time we put Dumfries and Galloway on the map.

What makes our location the perfect staycation destination in the UK?

Our location

Despite our rural location, we’re really not too far from the big cites. Just 1.5 hours from Carlisle, 2.5 hours from Edinburgh and under 2 hours from Glasgow, we are in prime position for many holiday makers looking for a weekend escape or longer.

Activities

Dumfries and Galloway is home to a wealth of activities. From day trips on a boat at sea, fishing in lochs and hiking across the Galloway Hills – there is always something to do. The Galloway Forest Park became the 4th Dark Sky Park in the world and boasts breathtaking and rare stargazing conditions. You can also watch the milky way from the comfort of your Snug from either the veranda or hot tub.

Views

Our Snugs are nestled in the hills offering outstanding views of the coast. You don’t need to travel to the Highlands for jaw-dropping views. Each Snug proudly boasts its own veranda where you can soak in the views. You can also explore the hills which will be quite literally on your Snug doorstep.

Great food

Food is an important part of a holiday and weekend break. We also have that covered. Our on-site restaurant Gather is open daily for breakfast, brunch and lunch, and opens over the weekend for dinner. We like to make holidaying easy for you, which is why you can simply roll out of bed for breakfast, and stroll back to your Snug after dinner for a glass of wine under the stars.

Nature

As for nature, you’ll see all sorts at Laggan. Dumfries and Galloway is known for Red Kites and Red Deer amongst many other beautiful species. Each Snug comes with a set of binoculars so you can watch nature go right past your window. The Snugs are also built on a working farm so you may even spot a sheep or cow or two.

We’re very lucky to be based in this beautiful part of South West Scotland and can’t wait to show it off to you. You can find out more about our Snugs here.

We have been working hard to welcome our guests back safely and to ensure your visit to Laggan complies with the latest government guidance. We want to reassure all our guests and staff that safety is our absolute priority. We have been reviewing all aspects of the business and have developed new approaches to our services.
