GG's Yard

Top 5 Reasons to Pick GG’s Yard as Your Wedding Venue

Have you recently got engaged and on the hunt for your dream wedding venue? Are you looking for a rustic wedding venue or barn wedding venue? How about a venue with outstanding views? Not to mention mouthwatering food and only the finest ales on tap.

With so much to think about, we thought we’d give you our top five reasons as to why you should have a Scottish wedding at our country and coastal venue.
Just under three hours away from Edinburgh and Glasgow, our rural location is an ideal place to get married. We’re set up to make the most of your big day.

We put you first and aim to give you the most magical wedding.

So why Laggan?

1. We do everything for you

From initial planning stages through to timings on the day and wedding decoration ideas, we do all the hard work, so you don’t have to. We want you to enjoy your big day and not worry about the little things. Our team of professionals will work with you to ensure everything goes to plan and it is the day you’ve always dreamed of.

2. Capture picture perfect snaps

Laggan is based in Dumfries and Galloway, South West Scotland. Nestled in the Galloway Hills, we offer unrivalled views of the coast and stunning country scenes.  A quick glimpse at our Instagram will show you what views we have to offer and so when it comes to your wedding photography, you will be able to capture the most amazing photographs of our rural landscape.

Choose either hillside or coastal snaps, both will take your breath away and make wonderful memories.  As your wedding guests arrive, they will be blown away by our Scottish wedding venue, they’ll go away and say ‘wow’.

We can also recommend some of the best photographers in the business, we only work with the best. You can see our list here.

3. Host all your friends and family

Whether you want a small wedding venue or large, we can host as many or little guests as you like.  Our 250-year-old converted barn wedding venue, GG’s Yard, can host up to 200 seated guests, plus more for the evening party. Refining your guest list to fit within the venues number limit is not a problem with us.

4. Stay on site

One of the questions we are frequently asked is where guests can stay and how close is the wedding accommodation to the venue. Our Sea View Snugs are on site and when you book your wedding day with us, you are automatically allocated 10 rooms.  Our secluded Snugs offer uninterrupted views of Fleet Bay with a generous outdoor terrace to enjoy it from. Located a short walk from our main wedding venue, GG’s Yard, your guests will never be too far from the party!

Cairnharrow Cottage is located next to GG’s Yard which is where many of our Brides like to spend the night before the wedding with her bridesmaids.

Cragganmore, a beautiful coastal chalet at Carrick, is available too, just 10 minutes down the road.

5. Continue the celebrations

Our mantra is that we bring people together over things that matter the most, everything we do reflects this which is why we have recently built Gather, our on-site Bistro. Gather is a space where you can connect with your friends and family who have travelled to celebrate your special day. It’s a place where you can get together to enjoy the good times.

Greet your guests the night before your wedding with a glass of fizz and some nibbles around the firepit. Share stories about your Dad’s embarrassing dancing and the hilarious best man’s speech the morning after over brunch.

Our cooking and menu design is based upon simple food, executed perfectly. Our chef Murray uses a combination of local ingredients, international influences and flavours to create a contemporary dining experience.

So these are our five top reasons, but we have plenty more up our sleeve.  To find out more about our wedding venue and your special day, get in touch!
